Zetas cartel drug boss arrested in Mexico

Mexican police arrested Jesus Enrique Aguilar Rehon, considered to be the founder of the Zetas drug cartel. The operation to apprehend Aguilar took place in Mexico without firing a shot. More details are not reported.

Aguilar is considered sympathetic to the murder of the agent of Immigration and Customs Police Service of Jaime Zapata in the United States in February 2011. His car was attacked on the road in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Then Zapata died on the spot and his colleague Victor Avila barely survived after being wounded.

Meanwhile, at least 13 gunmen were killed in a fierce firefight with soldiers in the northeastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which borders the U.S. state of Texas, said a military source. Shooting occurred in the afternoon in Rio Bravo, said the source, requesting anonymity. He did not mention whether the gunmen were members of a drug cartel Setas, which is very active in this area.
